Every plate lunch needs teriyaki chicken. This is the recipe our family has used for three generations.

Combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a bowl.

Reserve 1/4 cup sauce for basting, marinate chicken in the rest for 30 minutes.
Tip: Overnight marinating gives deeper flavor.

Grill or pan-fry chicken over medium-high heat, 5-6 minutes per side.
